4 Counting Favorites, Percussion, Orff, Movement and More

Here are 4 of our favorite ways to celebrate 100 Days of Kindergarten Celebration!

1. 100 Days of Counting
There are endless possibilities of Counting songs and Rhymes with percussion and movement!
Check out the Percussion Activity in the Music Box Forum.

2. How about celebrating with a delightful Math Challenge?

Using the song, Five Little Speckled Frogs, see how many logs of frogs there are in the class.

  • Place lines of tape in the room to represent the logs.
  • Five children need to get on one of the “logs.” If there are extra children, they are in the “pond” in the middle, playing on ribbed tone blocks, guiros, or little frog instruments.

Listen to the recording to hear when they play. The children on the logs act out the song until everyone is in the pond (be sure to listen for our counting at the introduction before every song)!

3. More Counting Songs!
There are several awesome counting songs available in the Sound Shape Playbook & CD!

4. My Love for You
Take a peek at an introductory Orff experience from the Music Rhapsody lesson plans as we follow left to right reading with the Counting Felt Set to become an Ensemble.

Happy Valentines Day! JOY! That’s what we feel when we have music and movement! These are students from my ensemble from years ago making up their moves to this classic love song, Love will Keep us Together.

I still get to see these students every week, many have been with me since they were in Babies Make Music!

A Peek at Young Orffans, Exploration Time, Listen for the End

A Peek at Young Orffans, Exploration Time, Listen for the End

Things are looking very green in Music Box since we are thinking about what is ahead in March! Read my blog for some fun freebies for St. Patrick’s Day and year round fun, too.

EXPLORATION TIME! (with a little description to encourage focus). We have many teachers learning how to play sopranino recorders in our online training (and many of you will learn or improve your skills at my live training this summer!). Here’s a peek at one of our Big Kids Make Music lessons. See how we use sopranino for “exploration” time for students who are new at the Orff instruments AND, so importantly, how you can start bringing focus and attention to what they are playing!
