About Lynn Kleiner
Lynn Kleiner, an internationally recognized leader in music education, has been teaching since 1978. She is the founder and director of Music Rhapsody, a music school teaching thousands of children, infants through teens, in day cares, preschools and elementary schools as well as Music Rhapsody centers since 1983.
Awarded the prestigious Oppenheim Award, Lynn’s instrument and DVD kits for children have also received the Dove Award and are recommended by the National Parenting Association. Lynn has several books and CDs which have won the Creative Child Award, and her own line of percussion instruments through REMO. Lynn is a popular presenter for AOSA, The American Orff Schulwerk Association as well as well as Orff Associations in several other countries. She is a frequent presenter for national and international early childhood associations, NAfME, the National Association for Music Education and has presented several times for the International Society of Music Educators.
Lis Craft is a fiddle player from Sacramento, CA. She earned her Bachelors of Music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA – where she studied violin and contemporary writing & production. Lis has completed Music Rhapsody’s early childhood and elementary Orff training and is now teaching infants – age 12 in our schools as well as our Redondo Beach classroom. Now living in Long Beach, she also teaches private violin lessons and performs with several bands in the Los Angeles area.
Mary Erwin has a bachelor of Music Education Degree from Louisiana State University, with a California Teaching Credential: Music PreK-12. Her early childhood music training, as well as Orff training is from Lynn Kleiner. Mary has experience teaching both preschool and elementary music in private and public schools.
Shine Hwang has earned her Bachelor’s degree in music education from City University of New York at Queens College and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in music education at California State University at Long Beach. She holds state certification from both New York and California for Pre-K through high school teaching. She has completed Music Rhapsody’s early childhood and elementary Orff training and is currently teaching in two of our elementary schools.
Daniel has combined a lifelong passion of performing, singing in choirs and directing a cappella groups with his love of children. He holds a BA in Music from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY with an emphasis in vocal performance. He is certified through Music Rhapsody’s early childhood and elementary Orff teacher training and currently teaches 2 to 5 year olds through Music Rhapsody at Los Alamitos Montessori Green House as well as at Music Rhapsody’s studio in Redondo Beach.
Zachary Kenefick is a composer, artist, and educator. He has a Bachelors of Art degree from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music. He was trained by Lynn Kleiner in Orff Schulwerk and early childhood music education and teaches at several of our preschools, elementary school as well as the Music Rhapsody studio. Zachary enjoys playing recorder, piano, saxophone and banjo!
Kimberly Kilmer has been playing music for twenty-five years and teaching music for fifteen. She has a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Contemporary Flute Performance from University of California, San Diego. She also has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Flute Performance from California Institute of the Arts, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from University of Arizona. Kimberly has performed with such groups as the Philharmonia Orchestra of Tucson and performed in Carnegie Hall. Kim’s Orff and early childhood training is from Lynn Kleiner.
Sharon Ledesma received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University, with a minor in Piano Performance. While at Clemson, she received a music scholarship and accompanied both the University Choral groups and Musical Theater productions. She has taught piano lessons for ten years. Sharon is also a certified AMS Montessori teacher. She enthusiastically taught music and movement in her K/1 classroom as well as summer camps. Sharon looks forward to using her Orff and recorder training in her classes.
Johanna Ruby holds a BM in Vocal Performance from Ithaca College. She is certified through Music Rhapsody’s early childhood and elementary Orff teacher training and currently teaches at several of our preschools. Johanna loves all things opera and enjoys singing both classical and folk styles of music!
William Rustrum earned his AA degree from Musicians Institute and has a bachelors degree from California State University Long Beach. He performs in several music groups and is endorsed by Sfarzo, a guitar string company. William has Orff Schulwerk training from the University of Nevada and early childhood music education course work from Lynn Kleiner.
Natalie Rutkin holds a Bachelors degree of Fine Arts (BFA) in music from the California Institute of the Arts where she was classically trained in vocal performance. She is a professional vocalist and sings jazz and a variety of music styles. Natalie has over a decade of experience teaching Orff in elementary schools. After her son was born, she discovered the joy of teaching infant and toddler music classes. Natalie has completed Music Rhapsody’s early childhood as well as elementary Orff training and loves teaching early childhood music at the studio location.
Ann Louise Thaiss
Ann Louise Thaiss holds a BA in Vocal performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach. She is certified through Music Rhapsody’s early childhood and elementary Orff teacher training and currently teaches 2 to 5 year olds through Music Rhapsody at Manhattan Beach Preschool. Ann is a member of Honey Whiskey Trio, a group who won the National Harmony Sweepstakes in 2013 and since then has been having a hoot and a holler performing all around the LA area.
