Summer Music Camps for 2008 Tuition |

| Camp 1 — Grades K through 1 Two Week Camp July 7 – 11 & 14 – 18, 9am – 12pm (half day program) Held at Trinity Lutheran Church 1340 11th St. Manhattan Beach Join Rich Podgur, Lynn Kleiner, Martin Espino, and other special guest performers and teachers for: • Instrument Making • Percussion/Orff Ensemble • Singing • Dance & Movement • Musical Theater • Concerts Campers should wear closed–toe shoes and clothing that will be comfortable for movement. Campers will perform in a closing concert for family and friends on July 18, 11:30am, followed by a family picnic! |

| Camp 2 — Grades 2 through 8 Two Week Camp July 7 – 11 & 14 – 18, 9am – 3pm (full day program) Held at Trinity Lutheran Church 1340 11th St. Manhattan Beach Join Rich Podgur, Lynn Kleiner, Martin Espino, and other special guest performers and teachers for: • Musical Theater • Orff/Percussion/Drumming • Arts & Crafts • Instrument Making • Dance & Movement • Instrument Lessons (Music Reading & Improvisation) - choice of: •Flute •Saxophone •Clarinet •Harmonica •Recorder •Piano •Guitar •Dulcimer •Brass Instruments Campers should wear closed–toe shoes and clothing that will be comfortable for movement. Campers will perform in a closing concert for family and friends on July 18, 11:30am, followed by a family picnic! |

| Mini Camp — Ages 4 through 6 One Week Camp August 25-29, 9am – 12pm (half day program) Held at Music Rhapsody 1603 Aviation Blvd. Redondo Beach Campers will have fun daily activities in: • Instrument Making • Singing • Dance & Movement • Orff/Percussion Campers should wear closed–toe shoes and clothing that will be comfortable for movement. |

| Babies Make Music — 3 months to walking Class length: 45 minutes Babies instinctively react to music! In these interactive classes, parents & babies learn delightful rhymes, lullabies, floor and lap games, action songs and dances that stimulate your baby's natural response to music. Parents gather information each week on infant musical development and learn activities to share in class and use at home. More benefits: Increases bonding with your baby and develops listening and motor skills. Also enhances language development and sense of balance and timing. Please bring the red Babies Make Music Kit and finger cymbals to class each week. Notes on songs, rhymes and games are included in the Babies Make Music Kit. At-home participation with your kit is the key to the full benefits of the program. |

| Toddlers Make Music — 1s and 2s with parent Class length: 45 minutes The toddler and parent learn delightful songs, dances and musical activities that focus on singing and keeping a beat to enhance timing, coordination, listening and language skills. High-quality percussion instruments are used as well as puppets, stories and colorful props to make this a very special music time. More benefits: Repetition assists language development and memory, and improves coordination and timing. Helps toddlers express their feelings productively, and develops their imagination and ability to focus. Please bring the blue Kids Make Music Kit to each class. | Kids Make Music — 2s and 3s with parent Class length: 45 minutes The young child and parent will sing, dance, and play instruments. Solo singing is encouraged to develop listening, pitch-matching, and language skills. Concepts such as high and low, soft and loud, up and down are taught in a game-like atmosphere. Puppets, felts and props add to the special music making experience. More benefits: Improves coordination. Through movement and playing, a sense of timing, phrase, and form develops. Helps young children express their feelings productively, develops their imagination and ability to focus, and increases self-confidence. Please bring the yellow Kids Make Music Too! | Family Mixed Age Class length: 45 minutes This class is offered to families who are unable to schedule a class for each child's specific age. The learning benefits described in the classes above are presented in the lessons. | Introduction to Orff Schulwerk Children learn the elements of music while they create, explore and move. Students are introduced to the Orff tone bar instruments and many types of percussion plus important musical concepts and vocabulary. Language, movement, rhythm and melody are used in game form to help develop children's mental concentration, self-concept, coordination and creativity while building a strong foundation for any future musical pursuit. This experience is essential before the specific skill of note reading is taught. |

| Introduction to Orff 3/4 — 3s with parent and 4s without parent Class length: 45 minutes This class gets the child started with the fun and high quality Orff instruments and features exciting musical games, rhymes, and stories. It is recommended for young 4-year-olds who prefer the parent to stay for class or need a little extra help playing the instruments. More benefits: Develops a sense of timing and coordination as the child experiences solo and group playing on the Orff instruments. Solo singing games improve listening, pitch matching, and tone quality. Builds on the child's musical literacy foundation and continues to improve physical and literacy skills. Using the DVD and instruments at home will reinforce the learning from the class as well as encourage participation and improve musical skills. |

| Introduction to Orff 4/5/6 — 4s, 5s, and 6s without parent Class length: 45 minutes Continues teaching the elements of music while children sing, play, create, explore, and move. Group playing using Orff instruments introduces numerous parts for students to play in ensemble, bringing a more developed sense of timing, listening skills, and concentration. More benefits: Builds on the child's musical literacy foundation and continues to improve physical and literacy skills. To reinforce what's learned in class, we highly recommend the purple In All Kinds of Weather, Kids Make Music! Kit for all Intro to Orff 4/5 students.
